Crystal Brown-Lewis, PsyD
Dr. Crystal Brown-Lewis is a Clinical Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in therapy, administration, planning and consulting within community and academically-based social service agencies. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (now known as Argosy University) in Chicago Illinois. She specializes in working in juvenile justice, adolescent behavior disorders, family, community and individual psychotherapy. She also has many years of working in the public and private school system, working with families and individuals suffering from a variety of interpersonal problems.
During Dr. Brown-Lewis’ various work experiences, it became clear that misunderstandings and assumptions contribute significantly to the loss of communication in relationships. The inability to accurately understand one’s intrinsic motivations, as well as the motivations of others, is a critical missing component in relationships. We often assume we understand others based on our own values and perceptions of the world and typically do so, without having any idea of the perspective of others. This was a reoccurring issue that troubled most of Dr. Brown-Lewis’ counseling clients in their social and professional relationships. Formulating a systematic method for understanding personalities will help bridge the gap between different ways of thinking, which equips individuals with the tools to efficiently communicate in both their personal and professional lives. It was this desire to help promote understanding and to increase communication between individuals that led her to ColorCode.
